In 1968, Seiko 5 Sports was created as a more upscale model, targeting young people with more active lifestyles and was marketed as a sports watch with robust features. Picking up from its glorious history, Seiko 5 Sports is officially reborn to set a whole new style.
THE 5 IN SEIKO SPORTS
The Seiko Sportsmatic 5 (nicknamed Seiko 5) was released in 1963, the first self-winding model manufactured in Japan. It was named Seiko 5 as it featured self-winding, the day-date display in the 3 o’ clock position, water-resistance, the crown in the 4 o’ clock position and a rugged case design.
